The National at their most grand and majestic. You could listen to this song 100 times and keep finding new things to hone into and listen for. The National are masters at finding a subtle way to make their songs better. I’m glad they’ve never had a line-up change because every member seems indispensable. It’s hard to pick out one reason this is a great song but add all the parts together and that’s exactly what you get, a great song.
