Speedy Ortiz’s Sadie Dupius writes this melancholy song for a friend she wished she had know her whole life. There are plenty of happy sounding songs that are actually sad but this many be a rare case of a sad sounding one that is actually happy. Except Sadie had a falling out with that friend and stopped performing the song live. So I guess it really is sad after all.
