We are living in the year of Big Thief, with not one, but two excellent albums to come out this year. If this list needs to be amended in the future as I live with the music of 2019 and see what holds up it’s most likely to be amended to add more Big Thief songs. I read a review of this song that called it both modern and ancient sounding and I think that makes a lot of sense. You can almost picture a character in Skyrim playing it on a lute and yet it still feels fresh and immediate too. If you haven’t jumped on the Big Thief bandwagon yet 2019 is definitely the time.
