Jess Williamson’s album Cosmic Wink was one of the best of 2018 and Mama Proud was one of the reasons why. She’s unafraid to ask the big questions and question herself. The chorus begins “Was my cup so full I thought It was empty? Oh my God” and the song comes to halt after she asks “Do you believe in God, fate, luck or chance?
Or are we not supposed to know?” for her to state “It’s a test” several times before returning. One of the best from the last couple of years, I’m looking forward to what she does in the next decade.
